A view of the inside of the Reactor Tank-1 which contained the ingredients for the pesticide known as SEVIN. At this plant owned by Union Carbide India Limited, a deadly toxic gas explosion and leak went uncontroled and killed thousands of residents of a slum just across the road from the main gate of the plant. Inside this tank, and others, 28 years later, the smell of pesticide is still strong. The gas leak was December 3, 1984.
