The Ganesh "Pol" or the Ganesh Gate, is the Centre piece of the entire Birla Auditorium and Planetarium complex, located in the middle of "new" Jaipur city, at the Statue Circle, the nodal point of Jaipur. bThe Birla Auditorium is a popular location for various trade shows, and conferences. There is also a planetarium that shows a shot video to "introduce" children to the Cosmos! Trust me it's a sad sad video, the amateur astronomer in me was so ...! There are stories, that the "original" GaneshPol was the name of a gate in the Amber/Nahargarh Fort, and when it ceased to exist, the name was adopted to keep the tradition alive, (a la, rebirth!)

The Birla Auditorium, was sponsored by the Birla Family, one of the richest families of modern India.

There is a Birla Temple/Mandir close by, that too is a "Ganesh" temple, a marble structure made using the ancient art of "Vaastu Shastra"
