Bergamo: Almenno San Bartolomeo, Interior of Rotonda San Tomé - St Thomas
Bergamo

Dedicated to St. Thomas the Apostle, this small church was built in the 12th century and represents one of the most interesting examples of Romanesque style in northern Italy.

The rotunda shows a very simple interior with a mystical atmosphere, the intimacy being emphasized by the low lights. During the equinox, a ray of light travels through a window and falls exactly on the tabernacle, creating a very peculiar sight. The 360 Image presents clearly the fascinating circular structure with three cylinders one on top of the other.
In the nearby there is the Research Center for the Romanesque, "Antenna del Romanico", that promotes events and studies on medieval period and Romanesque style.
