Ted Bundy (1946-1989) remains one of the most infamous American serial killers, known for committing 30+ homicides of young women & girls particularly between 1974 to 1978. His crimes spanned a number of states, but his first murders took place around the Seattle area in 1974 if not earlier. This is the area of where skeletal remains of three of his victims were found overlooking a service road (now a biking/hiking trail) in Issaquah, Washington w/ a glimpse of present-day Interstate 90. Two of his victims he kidnapped from Lake Sammamish (https://www.360cities.net/image/sammamish). His first arrest was in Utah in 1975 for kidnapping & attempted criminal assault. This ultimately led to the discovery of his criminal past here in Washington state & while despite being behind bars, he managed to escape twice & committed three additional murders in Florida until his final capture in 1978. He was ultimately executed on January 24, 1989 at Florida State Prison. At the Issaquah site, the following three victims were recovered at the crime scene, his next dumping site after the Taylor Mountain site (https://www.360cities.net/image/taylormountain). Years before Bundy, a cabin & grassy area formerly existed & there is a depression in the landscape indicating this area to be a former homestead.

That is to say, the West Coast functions as the imagination of the US, like a weird little brother who teases everybody then gets famous for making freaky art.The central part of the country is flat farmland all the way over to the Rocky Mountains.
