Just downstream of Exeter Quay is the entrance to the canal, and also the new home to a 1920s design of open water buoy that has recently been placed there as the centrepiece of a regeneration project.
The nearby weir prevents any further passage downstream by anything other than white water kayakers but is a perfect place to turn ready for sprints along the quay in rowing boats, or to turn along the canal in one of the many easily rentable cycles, kayaks or canoes from Saddles and Paddles.
