Jagüey

Jagüeyes are artificial water reservoirs, built by excavation and formation of dykes or embankments, as troughs for livestock animals. Rolling terrain advantage to capture and hold stormwater runoff. They are usually small, distant from the river and located in hilly areas or in the piedmont hills.

Indigenous Wayuu use them for water for drinking and cleaning
