Das Schloß Nymphenburg in München lädt mit seiner weitläufigen Parkanlage zu jeder Jahreszeit zu einem Spaziergang ein. Zu verdanken haben die Bayern das dem Kurfürsten Ferdinand Maria, der anläßlich der Geburt des Thronfolgers Maximilian Emanuel ein Sommerschloß bauen lies. Nach italienischem Vorbild entstand so im Jahre 1664 das mittlere Gebäude, das auch italienische Villa genannt wird. Ab 1701 kamen weitere Gebäude hinzu bis schließlich ein 600m breiter Gabäudekomplex entstanden war.
