RioNegro (Antioquia) RioNegro is a city and municipality in Colombia, located in the subregion of Eastern Antioquia. Its official name is Ciudad Santiago de Arma Rionegro as seen in the coat of arms of the city. Bordered on the north by the municipalities of San Vicente and Guarne, on the east by the municipalities of El Carmen de Marinilla and Viboral, on the south by the municipality of La Ceja, and on the west by the municipalities of El Retiro, Envigado and Medellín. Rionegro is called Cradle of Liberty, as it was one of the most important cities during the busy time of independence, while the Constitution of 1863 was written in this location in the historic Casa de la Convention, which is called the Rio Negro constitution.
