Use the bus route 9569 (also known as Bergbus Eng) starting from the regional train station "Lenggries" to reach one of the starting points for a hiking experience up to this place. From around bus stop "Oswaldhütte" there are several paths leading on mountains like the Schafreuter which is situated directly behind (which means above) the alpine hut. The hut itself belongs to the Bad Tölz section of the German Alpine Club DAV. Between 2019 and 2020 maintenance works where planned but then the pandemic was used to completely shut down the hut for visitors so the look of the building has changed completely compared with this shot dating back from 2009.
