White River Glacier crevasses
Mount Hood

Crevasses on the lower part of the White River Glacier on Mount Hood near Government Camp, Oregon.  The glacier is quite active w/ the sound of dynamite/thunder explosions within the cracks generating rock to fall from the unstable lateral moraine across the way as erratics atop the ice.  The particular adjacent crevasse is about 70 feet deep.  Microspikes or crampons are greatly encouraged to venture this far out, accidents involving climbers/skiers falling into these crevasses have occurred in the past.
