Lake Maggiore is a popular tourist destination due to its climate, its famous resorts with and many charming islands and villages around the lake, such as: the Barromeo Islands, and the towns of Stressa, Arona, Pallanza in the Italian region, and Ascona and Locarno in Switzerland, where this panorama was photographed. Lake Maggiore, also known as Lake Verbano, is the second lake in Italy, located on the south side of the Alps with an area of 212 km². It is divided between the regions of Piedmont and Lombardy in the Italian region, and is the largest lake in the southern region of Switzerland in Canton of Ticino.
