The cemetery was designed by Viennese architect Hans Mayr, it began to be used in 1911. It is one of the most beautiful cemetery in the city, which a distinctive feature is its greenery. In the south-western corner cemetery buildings with cemetery church are situated. They are decorated in late-baroque forms, later changed into secession style. Interior decoration refers to Viennese standards worked out by Otto Wagner and artists connected with so called "Group of Klimta". In the northern part of the cemetery there is a cross to commemorate soldiers of the First World War.
