The Renaissance Town Hall building (1435, supplemented in the 16th century) is located in the western part of Marktplatz. On the Town Hall under the usual clocks are astronomical, created back in 1511 by an astronomer and mathematician Johann Stöffler. Part of the western facade in 1876 was painted. Its frescoes depict allegorical figures and the most famous citizens of Tübingen. From the balcony of the town hall, the rulers of Baden-Württemberg made promises to the people and opened triumphs, and in the square in front of the Town Hall, court sentences were enforced and witches were burned.
