Once considered a true ecological sanctuary. Nowadays receive household sewage waste from some quarters that arose around it. It is very popular for leisure activities and for sports. It has a 5 sq km area, making boundary with the municipality of Rio das Ostras and is 11.5 km from the city center. With the rising water levels during periods of rain, the pond water hits the namesake neighborhood homes. To get rid of flooding, residents take advantage of the lagoon close to the sea and open a track between them, which leads to depletion of Imboassica Lagoon - and consequent destruction of this ecosystem until it recompose.
