The Plaza de España is situated close to the port of Cadiz. It is dominated by a monument built to celebrate the centenary of the 1812 Constitution. At the foot of the centre column, featuring extracts from the constitution, is a female figure representing Spain. Beside her are sculptures symbolising agriculture and citizenship, flanked by two bronze statues representing war and peace.
