Wild Woman’s Stone
Germany

There are several legends surrounding the rock formation. It is said that two wise women once lived in a cave within the rocks. They were knowledgeable about herbs, helpful, and are believed to have often saved people from hardship.

According to legend, one of them was very beautiful. A hunter pursued her but abandoned her after achieving his goal. Years later, he returned to the Wildweibchenstein, unaware that he had a son. His love for the wild woman reignited, and he took both mother and child with him.

Another tale tells that the wild women would occasionally leave their forest to ask the farmers of Laudenau for bread. Those who gave them something would find silver spoons in their drawers the next day.

The secret of the "wild white heaths and the wild white selves" is mentioned on another plaque. It was said that whoever uncovered the secret of these healing plants would be granted immense wealth.

Healers, sought out by the sick for treatment, have a long tradition and still exist today. They possessed special knowledge of medicinal plants and their preparation. In the past, they were often surrounded by an aura of mystery, which frequently led to the creation of legends. It is therefore quite possible that wise, knowledgeable women once lived at this rock long ago—after all, there was once a cave beneath the rock, though it has since been filled in.

More About Germany

Germany? Before the beginning there was Ginnungagap, an empty space of nothingness, filled with pure creative power. (Sort of like the inside of my head.)And it ends with Ragnarok, the twilight of the Gods. In between is much fighting, betrayal and romance. Just as a good Godly story should be.Heroes have their own graveyard called Valhalla. Unfortunately we cannot show you a panorama of it at this time, nor of the lovely Valkyries who are its escort service.Hail Odin, wandering God wielding wisdom and wand! Hail Freya, hail Tyr, hail Thor!Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature. But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene. At least some mastodons for sure came through for lunch, then fell into tar pits to become fossils for us to find. And there we must leave you, O my most pure and holy children.Text by Steve Smith.
