In the region of Essingen there ist the spring of the Rems (Remsursprung) in the valley in south west direction. After the Remsursprung there is an small ski resort (Skizentrum Hirtenteich) with three skilifts.

The Rems flows through the villige and afterwards turns to the right (west) to flow after 80 km at Neckarrems in the Neckar.
